Hallo allemaal! Hoe gaat het met je?
Hello everyone! How are you today? We will talk about Koningdag or King's day in Netherlands. It is a Dutch national holiday in The Netherlands, celebrating the birth day of King Willem-Alexander. It is celebrated on 27th April.
It’s a bit of an adjustment for everyone since it used to be called Queen’s Day for decades up until five years ago when they celebrated King Willem Alexanders crowning.
The Royals go around the town celebrating the day with its people. Everyone dressed in orange crowd up to just catch a glimpse of their beloved Royal family. The royal family will be visiting Amersfoort in 2019.
People celebrate with traditional Dutch costumes, orange outfits, drinks, parties, dancing and flea markets. Flea markets form an integral part of the festivity. Almost half of Holland save up for this day. Some drown themselves in alcohol and parties. Others play games, dance and shop till they drop!

Unfortunately, you still have to go to work on the next day. But not to worry, just have a herstelbiertje (‘recovery beer’)!
According to the Dutch, the best way to get over your hangover in the morning is by drinking even more alcohol. Now that is something I will not comment on. Have fun everyone!
